Löhne
Löhne - a beautiful medium-sized town in the north-east of North Rhine-Westphalia, approx. 25 km north-east of Bielefeld. With 40,000 inhabitants, it is the third largest municipality in the eastern Westphalian district of Herford. Löhne is also an important location for the furniture industry and therefore calls itself the world city of kitchens.
Destinations in Löhne
Worth seeing in Löhne is definitely the local history museum on the market square on Bischofshagen. Here guests can go on a voyage of discovery through time. Another attraction is the Aqua Magica landscape and culture park. A unique mix of scenic attractions and cultural events awaits you, such as a high ropes course and attractions at the water crater. Another interesting destination is the Rürupsmühle. It is a 400-year-old water mill below the mill pond. Around the pond is a bakehouse and a magnificent thatched farmhouse dating from 1717. In addition, the association "From Grain to Bread" shows in detail the path of the seed grain to bread, as it was common in pre-industrial times. The Ulenburg is very beautiful for an excursion or hiking tour. A beautiful avenue of oaks, chestnuts and lime trees greets you at the entrance to Ulenburg moated castle. The protected park was laid out in the 19th century with its valuable and rare tree population. The Ulenburg Castle has undergone many historical changes and today belongs to an Yezidi foundation.
